It is with great pleasure that I, Chief Insp Martin Sims, Head of the National Wildlife Crime Unit, can announce that, as of Monday the 2nd of November, PC Alun Bradshaw from Cambridgeshire Police and Sergeant Andy Whysall from Avon and Somerset Police joined the National Wildlife Crime Unit for a 3 month attachment.
This week they have been based in Scotland getting a greater understanding of intelligence and analysis from NWCU. They will then spend the rest of their attachment back in their home Force, but are available to support work within their respective region.
To that end they will also be working closely with the NWCU Investigative Support Officers in order to gain a greater understanding of some of the more complex work, such as CITES. This will enable them to return to Force after the attachment with a greater knowledge of wildlife crime and thus be in a position to support their Force in a more comprehensive manner on wildlife crime issues.
