“POLICE are reminding the public of the impact of wildlife crime as the salmon fishing season launches on the River Dee.
This comes as high numbers of people are expected to visit the area.
Wildlife Crime Liaison Officer PC Mike Whyte said: “The North-east of Scotland is privileged to be blessed with vibrant and diverse wildlife.
“We want people to come to the area and enjoy the splendid scenery that is on offer but to do so responsibly.”
He says river crime can take a “variety of formats including rod and line to organised and travelling groups [coming] from outwith the area to net the rivers.”
Police Scotland work with several partner agencies to help prevent wildlife crime.”
