“Three men have been jailed after being convicted of badger baiting.

Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard how the three travelled to Cumbria from Merseyside to set a dog in a badger sett in Calthwaite, near Penrith.

Anthony John Campbell, 31, of Hawthorn Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, Luke Michael Jones, 23, of Heywood Close, Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, and Spencer Stubbs, 27, of Larch Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, had denied the offence but were convicted after trial on May 17.”
