“A gamekeeper on a Highland estate was found with enough poison to kill the country’s entire golden eagle and red kite population several times over.
The raid on Skibo Estate in Sutherland was carried out last year just days after two golden eagles and a sparrow hawk were found poisoned.
Two of the birds were discovered on the estate, and the other nearby. When police raided the estate they found 10kg of Carbofuran, an insecticide which is deadly to birds after only a few tiny granules are consumed.
