The ‘iconic bird of prey’, a protected species, was found dead near Northleach on Aug 16th 2020 but details have only just been released.
The bird is believed to have been blasted with a shotgun.
The Gloucestershire Police rural crime team tweeted “This is a despicable act on an iconic bird of prey. One of just a few of our rare Peregerines, shot near Northleach with a shotgun. Details on 101 to PC Ashley Weller. Inc 349 16/08.”
Peregrine falcons are a Schedule 1 listed species in The Wildlife and Countryside Act and killing or injuring them is a crime.
