Two men have been charged with trespassing on private land with a firearm, following an incident in Ross-on-Wye last December. At the time of the arrest it was believed the men intended to poach deer from the land.
Michael Julian Thomas, 49, of Greenfield Street, Bargoed and David Peter Corbett, 35, of Trosnant Crescent, Penybryn, Hengoed were both given 4 months suspended sentences for 2 years, a £1,500 fine, £80 victim charge, and forfeiture of firearms, shotgun licences, rifles, ammunition and hunting equipment. Corbett also received a 6 month driving ban.
